Understanding Cultural Diversity

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. -Martin Luther King Jr.

Everyone has a culture. Referred to as "collective programming", it is the combination of customs, traditions, symbols, values, phrases and other forms of communication by which we belong to a community. We are born into a culture and then learn how to think and behave within it. No matter where you later move to, the culture into which you are born and raised will have a life-long influence on your values.
